Guestbook & Reviews

Experience Through Their Eyes

Went here while visiting from Illinois for a wedding. The gentleman that owns the restaurant is the same one that does all of the seating, waiting and bussing of tables. It has a perfect atmosphere that is just like home. The food was great and reasonably priced for how much you get. My fiancee and I went more than once the four days we were in De Smet. I would recommend anyone staying or passing through to stop in. We had both breakfast and lunch and the food was perfect both times.

This was a fun diner/cafe! It felt a little like we were stepping back in time. The service was good and the food was very good. The BEST peach pie I've had in soooo long! Loved the flaky crust! They make it fresh. Another customer told us they had been in business for forty years. I am pretty sure it was the owners that were working-taking orders, cooking, etc. they didn't have 1/2 and 1/2 for my coffee-just powdered creamer at the table, but he happily brought me milk when I asked. We'd definitely stop here again!

My husband and I had breakfast here a couple months ago and not only was the food wonderful, so was the waiter. He was attentive to us and the other people dining as well. I couldn't believe it when we went to pay, we found out not only was he the only waiter working, he was the only cook and the only cashier. Pretty amazing since neither of us noticed. That man didnt skip a beat!
